What types of organizations would fund a health care organization?
Q. I am writing a paper that requires me to find an organization or company that would fund a health care organization or social program. The program would be to train young people (ages 18 to 25) for free on basic health care, such as CPR, taking blood pressure, etc. Things people should know how to do in an emergency situation or if the situations simply warrants it. Does anyone know of any organizations or companies that would fund this type of thing? I've been trying to look but have not come up with anything.

A. I am currently researching grants to non-profit organizations in order to find funding for parent support groups for parents of children with disabilities, and would be glad to forward m Excell Spreadsheet on Grants to those providing their e-mail address. I know that insurance companies like Blue Cross and Aetna have set-up foundations to provide grants to non-profits engaged in educating young people in healthcare matters. my email: abelke59@yahoo.com

Are there any organizations that help others start and run new companies?
Q. Meaning an organization that helps someone start a company not only financially but also gives them advice through market research and or other methods. Also organizations that help companies until they get on their feet. I'm looking for an organization that you can take an idea to and they help you make it happen (turn it into a reality).

A. Go to and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.

What are the organizations/companies that work on adults with low reading rates?
Q. Hi, I am from Turkey. Like most of the developing countries, lots of adults can read but are not interested in regular reading. Book publishing rates are low and the variety is limited. There aren't many public libraries either. Most of the international or local organizations, rightly, focus on children literacy. I wonder if there are organizations (profit or non-profit) who focus on this issue and come up with products/services?

A. There are many, which ones you can get involved with will depend on just where you are located. Wikipedia has a list of "International human rights organizations": They also have a listing of "Intergovernmental human rights organizations": For further information, you can click on each one individually . I applaud your desire to give.

Q. I am looking for a place or organization in Canada that accepts pop tops (pull tabs) from aluminum cans, such as pop or beer. I have been saving them for a while and wanted somewhere to donate, by either mail or dropping them off. I reside near Hamilton, so are there any local organizations i can do this? and or any where in canada i could mail them? thanks!!

A. You could try checking with a local service club, such as the Lions, Rotary, etc. Some of them collect the tabs to sell as scrap aluminum (the Lions throughout Alberta do, but I'm not sure about the rest of the country.)

A. Rotary has a strong global network of volunteers, so I would definitely check out to your local Rotary Club in addition to the other programs mentioned. If your high school has an Interact Club, that would be a way meet them as well. I don't think it would be a problem to go out your senior year (even though you may miss graduation), but since our students usually go out in their junior year of high school or after graduation, I would check with your school and your local Rotary District's rules to determine if you can go out your senior year. In our program, we send students to countries where they do not speak the language, so that they have to learn it. This adds to a tremendous and life changing experience. You are allowed to… [cont.]
