A. You should consult with an attorney in your state. Look for one specializing in your area via a service such as www.findlaw.com

A. I know where to go where I live. There is a place here, in Ontario, Canada, that deals with the rights of tenants - government-run, I think. I'm not sure about where you are, wherever that is. Also, here there is an office where we can get advice for free. We also have free Legal Aid here, and the contact information is in the government section at the end of the phone book. They have pamphlets in the office that you can pick up if you don't want to talk to a lawyer. I hope there are places like that where you live. And of course, your apartment needs to be safe, legally. You may need to contact government to see if you can get inspector/s in.
