Are there study abroad opportunities in Europe or in Oceania for health care students?
Q. Seems like all the health care opportunities are in either Africa, Latin America or the Carribean, which isn't too hard to believe but does anyone know of any program that I can study abroad in Europe or somewhere in Oceania that is geared towards health care students? Thanks, the help is much appreciated

A. in germany there are a lots of opportunities for health care studens. its called "pflegemanagement" or "pflegewissenschaften". the reason for the high number of health care students is the system change from the dual system to the international standard. you can find some of them in www.arbeitsagentur.de, the site of the national working agency. but its easier to find a job at the hospitals themselves, mainly the hospitals with contact to universities.

Is it generally accepted to call the Australian continent "Oceania"?
Q. My daughter has an electronic LeapFrog Explorer Globe. When clicking on Australia, it identifies that continent as Oceania. I was taught that there are seven continents and Australia is one of them. Is this the new way of referencing that area to include New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and all the other islands? Or is it not that common to call the area Oceania?

A. The term 'oceania' is used to group the island nations of the South Pacific with Australia and New Zealand into a convenient socio-economic (and also international sporting) unit for convenience. The south pacific island nations are scattered over a wide area, and are not large enough to be considered socio-economic units in their own right (but each nation is independent, politically and econiomically). Both Australia and New Zealand have large enough populations and levels of economic activity to be considered separately, but all the island nations put together are still not large enough; therefore they are lumped together with Australai and New Zealand as 'Oceania'. Q. Cargo Cults developed at the end of WW2 as Allied Forces ended their wartime supply efforts. Suppose practice of shipping goods through USA was halted; are signals warrented to urge return of North America providers?

A. Ha, a lot of us already have. It'd take a bit of time (a couple of generations? maybe more?) to lose the knowledge of how shipping works in the first place. It's only then that cargo cults as they are practiced in Oceania would develop, because the practice began because the people there had no clue why or how cargo came to their islands. But there are certainly examples of similar things happening in our own culture. Think about, for instance, fashion. No one really knows how popularity works, and lots of people have no clue how to acquire wealth. But if you wear the latest fashions, like the popular and/or rich people do, and you could become one of them!
