The word itself is derived from the Greek word organon, itself derived from the better-known word ergon. In the social sciences, organizations are the object of analysis for a number of disciplines, such as sociology, economics, political science, psychology, management, and organizational communication. How community based organization can be integrated into an umbrella organization? We are living in small town and intend to form a coalition of different CBOs.Our town has sanitation problem,we want to combine the efforts of different organizations and solve the problem collectively. Is there any article, book or web site available for this particular purpose? Asked by smilee - Wed May 21 00:43:51 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is a tough thing to do. Some members of our community tried that and it did not work. The different org. did not want to come under the umbrella because of differences in each group's Mission Statement. The umbrella group was attempting to coordinate the donations of time and money to ensure better results. It cause such a rift in the Community that the general consensus was to have each organization send two representatives for discussions on Community problems. Answered by Iffy - Wed May 21 05:59:28 2008 How are volunteer organizations primarily funded? Q. I am thinking mainly of ESL literacy organizations. I realize they have the volunteers for the work, but they also ussually have full time staff, facilities and revenue. Do donations keep these organizations afloat, or do they tap into some sort of government grant handout that supports them because they are serving the community (whatever that means) I would like to know how these organizations work? I'm believer in the follow the money principle but where is the money come from? Q. Hey I'm Jessica. I am thinking about doing a foreign exchange my senior year, to either Japan or Australia. Do any of you know all the organizations you can go through to become a foreign exchange student? Which organization, and which country would you choose? Thank ya:) Asked by Jessica - Wed Apr 15 20:02:23 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Rotary has a strong global network of volunteers, so I would definitely check out to your local Rotary Club in addition to the other programs mentioned. If your high school has an Interact Club, that would be a way meet them as well. I don't think it would be a problem to go out your senior year (even though you may miss graduation), but since our students usually go out in their junior year of high school or after graduation, I would check with your school and your local Rotary District's rules to determine if you can go out your senior year. In our program, we send students to countries where they do not speak the language, so that they have to learn it. This adds to a tremendous and life changing experience.
