How are the fees for a mutual fund paid? Are they removed from your dividends and capital gains?
Q. I'm not talking about loads, just the fees that comprise the expense ratio. If i have a fund with 1% fees, will I be billed for these fees directly and then pay by check, or are they taken out of the dividends and capital gains before they are distributed, or are they actually part of the NAV calculation? How can it come out of account balances? They aren't going to force you to sell shares just so you can cover their fees are they?

A. Management fees are factored daily into the NAV or Net Asset Value of your fund. The NAV is the price per share to buy or to sell a mutual fund. If there were no fees, for example, the NAV would a bit higher that it is and simply reflect the actual value of the stocks in the portfolio. But because ALL mutual funds have fees the NAV is always a bit lower. The difference between the NAV and the actual value of the portfolio is the profit for the fund company. The average difference between the NAV and the actual portfolio in most funds range between .5% to around 1.5% If there is a load in your fund you do not buy at the NAV but at the Maximum Offering Price (MOP) Which is the NAV plus the sales charge. When you sell a load fund… [cont.]

How quickly do attorney fees accrue on a property that has gone into foreclosure?
Q. I am working on a property that is in foreclosure in WA state. It is 2 months into the process, $11,500 in back payments and taxes and a few thousand in attorney fees for the mortgage holder's attorneys. Is there a ballpark estimate of how much attorney fees will be once the 135 days is up and it goes to sale, and is there any formula for calculating the rate of their charges?
Asked by alison a - Tue Sep 4 12:58:53 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. HUD prescribes the attorney fees for a foreclosure. Even if the property is not a HUD property, most foreclosure attorneys bill by HUD guidelines. In NJ where I was involved in foreclosures, atty. fees were $1,200.00 per file. That does not take into account expenses, which can be many times that amount. There is title work, securing the property, taxes, accrued interest etc. which can add significantly to the mortgaged amount. For the specific amount in your case, just look at another judgment from the attorney involved in your foreclosure. They usually bill the same fee on all files if they work in volume. Good luck, I hope this helps.

A. Having an adoption fee or selling a bird or any pet doesn't ensure they are going to be taken care of it only shows maybe an intention of wanting something that they would be willing to pay for. There have been lots of pets adopted from shelters, and other places only to have been abused, neglected, even killed by the adopter, purchaser, etc. You can start by asking the person interested in your keets what their knowledge of owning a parakeet is like what kind of food, houseing, daily care, treats, the bird should have. What are some fees associated with joining a real estate agency?
Q. I am in a process of obtaining a salesperson license and will soon be looking for a broker to join. What are some fees that I must pay in order to join them? I know they differ from agency to agency but can someone give me examples on what they might be? Thank you!
Asked by Sung C - Mon Jan 5 21:42:25 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Interview several different agencies first, and see what each charges. Some fees all realtors in your area will probably have to pay: MLS fees and local board fees are pretty standard. But, depending on what commission cut they offer you and which one you decide to accept, there may or may not be additional fees for contracts, printing, fax service, signs, desk space, business cards, etc. Each company operates a little differently. But none are cheap. (ie. MY NRIS fees are $165 a Quarter and my CRS designation runs another $120 a year.)

What are the custom fees for an imported gown from China to the US?
Q. I am thinking about ordering a custom gown from China, but I'm concerned with the fees I may incur while the gown is going through customs. I read that there is no fee for gowns under $200, but the gown I'm interested in is about $300. I see that a lot of people have been satisfied with their gowns, but have not mentioned any import duties. Can you please share your experiences?

How do I structure fees for leasing my commercial kitchen?
Q. I have a new, full-service commercial kitchen used for training purposes. I want to lease it to caterers during off hours. A. I would charge by the week, Sun-->Sat or maybe keep the weekend together, Mon-->Sund. Specify the hours and food storage capabilities so they don't encroach on your regular training during the day. I'd specify a place they can store food in fridges/freezers, both cooked and raw. And be VERY sure to specify cleanliness and sanitation measures to be take, so you dont' come in the next morning to a mess, or worse, an "invisible" but bacteria-laden mess with your students. Specify where to haul garbage, even down to who provides bags and paper towels. You will need to be sure your dish machine is always full of chemicals and that lessees know how to change or add more of all chemicals, how to mix mop water, how to mix sanitizing surface… [cont.]

How much are the fees to refinance a mortgage?
Q. I have a 30yr mortgage that i have had for 3 years. I want to start over with the 30 years. What would the fees be to do this?
Asked by rob - Wed Aug 30 02:09:57 2006 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Depends upon how your state does things. In California, figure about $3500 of actual fees, plus any points to buy the rate down. States with attorneys instead of escrow will be more expensive. States with survey requirements will be more expensive. btw, it's unlikely you'll get a better loan than you've got. Just saying. Three years ago I was doing 30 year fixed at 5% even with no points. Now it takes almost two points to buy 5.875.

How do you get around all of the fees on Allegiant air?

By the time I get done planning the book for two round trip tickets online, the total is just over $600 bucks. How is is possibly that there is $200 bucks worth of fees? I have tried removing priority boarding, but it will not let me unselect the seat selection $60 fee.

A. Well, you probably can't "get around" all of them, but priority boarding and seat selection should be simple enough to avoid.

How to avoid paying overdraft fees/banks with lowest overdraft fees?
Q. Bank of america is very stealthy in charging overdraft fees. For instance, my account had a certain amount of money, I went and used my debit account for several different transactions. I log in this morning and found 6 negative transactions. Why? Because Bank of America cashed a check I wrote several days prior, that day but never bother to display this as being cashed in my online account, overdrawing it. So I now I owe $35 several times over for small charges as low as $.95! This is very deceptive. How can I avoid paying these ridiculous fees? I am not rich and cannot afford to have thousands sitting in my account. Any banks with lower fees and less deceptive practices than bank of america?

A. It is YOUR responsibility to keep a good checkbook register which reflects how much money you really have. Since you wrote that check, you should have known to look for it on line before accepting that number as a true balance. It is not the bank's fault that whoever you sent that check to was slow depositing or cashing it. My mom just deposited a couple of checks she had misplaced from last April. If the people who wrote them thought as you do, they are in for a surprise. What I do to avoid such fees is attach a "line of credit" to my checking account which covers such overdrafts. It is credit and I must pay it back, but that cost is usually less than one overdraft fee and avoids the complications of other checks bouncing or adding… [cont.]

Who is liable to pay fees if a solicitor was appointed by an executor to administer a will?
Q. I am an executor on my grandfathers will and am concerned that the estate may not cover payment of solicitors fees as there is now a claim on the estate by the Department of Works and Pensions. Who is liable for the solicitors costs - the will actually states 'I authorise my executors to incur such expense in implementing these provisions as they shall see fit. Does that then mean that the solicitor would have to get in line as a creditor?
Asked by Karen H - Wed May 7 15:55:16 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The solicitor is authorised to recover costs from the funds in the estate. As I understand it, the DWP will have to claim from the residue, i.e. the funds which remain available for distribution after legal fees have been paid. Another priority claimant would be Inland Revenue.

And I think that there is a Provincial Tax I think. (I used to live in Calgary and can't remember for the sake of my life) And I've heard of the courier fee that the CP tacks on, which is around CAD $5, but I haven't noticed.

Q. Hey, If I want to do online shopping in Canada, most of it comes through the states. I am confused as to how customs and duty fees work. Could you give me an example of what I might pay, if a pair of shoes is $90 + $10 shipping and handling? How much will it cost for me once the shoes arrive at my door?

What are the extra fees when buying a new/used motorcycle?
Q. I have been looking to buy. I would like to get a Ninja 250 2004 or newer. Brand new the msrp is $3000 but I just called a dealer and asked what is the total after taxes and fee's he said about $4200. Does anyone know the breakdown of where all the extra fees come from. Also, if buying used from a private party, are there still extra fees or just tax? Oh yeah... I'm talking specifically for CA USA if anyone knows

How do I go about placing my Homeowner Association fees in escrow?
Q. My husband and I own a home in Delaware. The development where we live has Association Fees to cover trash, street lights, etc. During the past year, the Board members have made numerous decisions that many of the homeowners are not happy about. Several people have said they are not going to pay their Association Fees, however, they are going to place them in an escrow account instead. They want several of the board members to resign, especially since they were not voted into their position. We would like to do the same thing, however, I don't know how to go about doing this. If anyone knows how, would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks.

A. the home owners assoc. will put a lien on your house and take it if you don't pay the fees. i would pay them and get some advise from an attorney who has experience in dealing with associations. has anyone really studied the assoc. laws to see if there is any thing the home owners can do in the event the board does things contrary to whats in the rule book or does things without letting home owners know. boards always have trouble in trying to please everyone. every decision made by the board is not going to please everyone thats a given. How many are not satisfied with the board like 3 or 4 or half of the home owners?
