Answered by Derrick - Mon Mar 19 13:41:31 2007 I'm being sued for a car accident? Q. I'm in New Jersey and was in an accident that I was found to be at fault. Now the other driver is suing me, my insurance covers $500,000 BUT here's the catch...he's suing for $10 million dollars. Immediately following the accident the other driver got out of his car and proceeded to yell at me about how his phone is broken and now he's lawyering up and saying he was out of work and in a nursing home, blah, blah, blah. I'm panicking and am outraged, but I have a feeling that there's no way he could win over $500,000 dollars when he literally walked away from the accident fine. what should I expect? HELP I believe there was a passenger in the other car, an older woman. If they were hospitalized/etc could this push the amount over $500,000?… [cont.] Asked by king_mob23 - Thu Jan 21 18:00:54 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Being sued has a lot to do with the power of the plaintiff's attorney, as well as the mindset of the judge. The most I would expect that you would have to pay would be for the broken phone, and the damage to the other car. If the other person was not hurt, or disfigured by the accident, I see no reason that they should get even close to $10 million. I could be wrong, however, I am no professional. Q. I am a recent law school grad. I don't really like lawyering and I've decided that someday I'd like to go back to school and get a Ph.D. in Criminology (which was my undergraduate major) and be a Criminology/Sociology Professor. I'd like to give teaching a shot for a few years before making such a drastic change, so my questions: 1. With my J.D. and a B.A. in Criminology, could I be hired to teach Criminology, Criminal Justice, or any Crim/Law courses? (at the University level, Community College Level?) 2. How much does an adjunct/part-time instructor make? (at the University level, Community College level?) Any tips to get hired, specially part-time? Help me out! Thanks. I'm not sure about the university level, but you may be able to get a job as an adjunct in their continuing ed department with your degree. The hard part is if you don't have any teaching-related experience on your resume, colleges are going to want that. So think about what you've done that is related, so you can highlight that. Any training you've done for fellow employees, etc, might work. Of course, any formal training classes you've run would be ideal, or courses you taught in law school, or even tutoring you did would help. Most ccs and cont ed depts. won't have enough criminology/sociology/law courses on their schedule to give you a lot of hours,… [cont.] Answered by RoaringMice - Thu Mar 27 15:41:00 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "lawyering" parry jpg
